Explanation
How It Works:
Each group has a stack of identical fraction question cards placed with the teacher.
One member from each group retrieves the top card.
The group collaborates to solve the problem.
A group member submits the answer to the teacher.
If correct, the group becomes the “taggers.” They have 20 seconds to tag as many classmates as possible (safe tagging only!).
All students return to their groups and prepare for the next round.
Rounds:
Repeat for a set number of rounds (recommended: 5–7 rounds).
Variations
Use decimal or percentage problems instead of fractions.
Increase difficulty progressively with each round.
Allow the first two correct groups to become taggers for added excitement.
Add bonus cards with fun math riddles for extra points.
Progression
Start with simple fractions (e.g., ½ + ¼).
Move to more complex operations (e.g., multiplying or dividing fractions).
Introduce word problems involving fractions.
Participant feedback
Students reported enjoying the combination of math and movement. The game-like format kept them engaged and energized throughout the lesson.
